Nordreich is the largest and most powerful Germanic guild in existence, and is ranked second overall in terms of members. It is dedicated to Germanic and Norse cultural advancement and folkish nationalism.[1]
The bulk of Nordreich is composed of Viking kingdoms, albeit there are several knightly orders, barbarian tribes, oppressed duchies, and even towns of trolls and other magical species. Nordreich is closely connected with Germanic, Baltic, Slavic, Celtic, Finno-Ugric, and, to a lesser extent, Southern European cultures. The land governed by Nordreich is collectively known as Nordland, and its citizens are termed Nordlanders. Nordreich is noted for its stress on values its members denote as Nordic, such as courage in the face of adversity, loyalty, honour, and respect for heritage and aesthetics.

The central authority within Nordreich is the much-revered monarchical Reichskaiser, who has absolute authority in all affairs of the Reich and rules until death or abdication. The Kaiser is aided by the Reichsregierung, which serves as his personal Cabinet and is composed of officers who have been delegated executive authority within the Reich.
The Reichsleitung is the other significant government body. Its duties are to enact legislation such as guild policy and treaties, act as a liaison between the citizenship of Nordreich and the Kaiser and his staff, and handle various internal affairs.
Former Kaisers of Nordland receive the honorary title of Reichsgraf to denote their status as royalty, and act in an advisory role to all levels of Nordreich.

The Charter of Nordreich is its foremost official document. It defines the administrative structure of the guild, its ideology and symbolism, and laws concerning foreign, domestic, and military affairs.

[edit] The beginning
Nordreich first appeared in Galava on the 4th of May, 2008, established by Reichskaiser Emperor ß. The guild grew rapidly, as a strong need for unity was expressed by the northern lands of the known world. Guild flags were chosen following long discussion, which led to a delay in its declaration of existence, which happened on the 18th of May, 2008. The declaration became one of the most frequently viewed threads on the guild forums. In two weeks, Nordreich became the fourth-largest guild in terms of members, admitting its 100th member on June 11, and was included in the top ten guild lists in progression, land, military, and gold. Richly decorated invitations were displayed on the Galavan forums, attracting even more members.
On the 30th of May, Nordreich put itself on the diplomatic map of Galava when it signed a treaty, The Freely Flowing Mead Accords, establishing The German Empire as its protectorate.[2] It later signed several more pacts, with alliances such as Ostreich, the Northern Wolf Tribe, The Long Patrol, and the Knights of the Tropic. It also signed the Pax Galava treaty, the first treaty with more than two signatories.
[edit] Zeppelin's accession
Beginning on June 17, 2008, Vinzent Zeppelin announced that he would be acting as Kaiser for the duration of a leave of absence by Emperor ß.[3] In the ensuing days he re-evaluated a number of policies and institutions within Nordreich, and instituted several reforms, including a revised Charter, modification of the Reichsgraf title, and clearer differentiation between the Reichsleitung and Reichsregierung.[4] The reforms were met with overall approval by Nordreich citizens. Under his leadership, the Chamber of Recruitment, headed by its new Jarl Erik, successfully brought Nordreich to approximately 150 members by mid-July.
Although Zeppelin's Kaisership was initially intended to be temporary, Emperor ß eventually stepped down altogether and assumed the Reichsgraf title. Vinzent Zeppelin remains the Kaiser to date.

On July 22, after declarations of war by Solaris and the Kingdom of Svalbard against the Knights of Raptor Jesus, KRJ's allies counter-declared in support. Less than an hour later, Kaiser Zeppelin announced a recognition of a state of war between Nordreich and "the joint forces of \m/edieval and the LUEnited Empires, in support of the Kingdom of Svalbard per the Northern Unity Alliance".[5] This declaration likewise placed Nordreich in a state of war with the Knights of Raptor Jesus due to the nature of their treaties.
[edit] Foreign relations
Since its inception in early May 2008, Nordreich has been a prominent world leader in Galava. Being one of the most diplomatically successful guilds, it has signed treaties of varying degrees with several other major and semi-major powers. There are over thirty established diplomatic quarters at its forums, and Nordreich has good relations with most major guilds in Galava. Nordreich has two protectorate states under its jurisdiction and guidance, Ostreich and Armenian Highland.
Nordreich is a founding member of Pax Galava, the first agreement between more than two guilds. It is also the largest of all the current member states.
Due to controversies faced by Nordreich in a different universe, it is sometimes accused by its detractors of radical policies incompatible with sound morals. Nordreich, however, explicitly denies any such policies, affiliations, or views, and tends to regard its offenders as provocateurs.

In spite of the peaceful nature of Galava, Nordreich devotes much attention to its military organization as well. The military of Nordreich is known as the Reichswehr.

Aesthetics play a prominent role within Nordreich, serving to showcase its rich culture and to express the high regard for tradition and nationalist values present among Nordlanders.
[edit] Official symbolism
The flag pictures a black imperial eagle with Odal, the rune of Odin and the ensign of Nordreich, depicted on a shield either resting on the chest of the bird (peacetime design), or held in its claws (wartime design). The charter describes the Odal as a symbol of "our ancient heritage, our fatherland, and our courage in the face of adversity. It also symbolizes unity and strength, two core values of Germanic peoples and hence, the Reich." The official colours of Nordreich are black, white, and red, symbolizing soil, honour, and blood, respectively.

Nordreich's artists in the Chamber of Media make signatures and avatars for their fellow guild members free of charge. One of the notable features of Nordreich is the amount of artwork it produces. The most frequent theme are Nordic warriors with heroic and masculine features; however, courtly love, romanticism, and dramatic Northern landscapes are not uncommon either. Nordreich often employs classical art and paintings of nationalist artists in its visual material. In addition to images, Nordreich was the one of the first guilds in Galava to start producing publicity videos, such as "Nordreich - Join Today!" by Cylon or "Nordreich Recruitment" by Imperium.
