The Beta War was spurred by AppealDenied being accepted into the Knights of Raptor Jesus and talking with Kadin, its head of state, on the issue of other guilds. He later released the logs of the IRC conversations with Kadin. The logs showed a planned merge of Knights of the Esoteric and LUEnited Empires, predictions that Nordreich would upgrade Pax Galava into a military bloc, plans to attempt to pull Sparta, Confederation of Irish Arcticans (who had left by the time the conversations were publicized), and the Covenant away from Pax Galava, and plans to attempt to overcome DraGOONS in the guild rankings while recruiting from various *chan boards. Kadin eventually declared that AppealDenied was an enemy of KRJ and would be attacked, however he did so after Solaris declared war upon the Knights of Raptor Jesus.^[1]

At 10:14 pm, the war system was finally released in beta. Knights of Raptor Jesus's protectorate Legendary Society quickly attacked AppealDenied, a provisional member of Solaris. Not more than one hour later, Solaris declared war in retaliation.^[2] The Kingdom of Svalbard soon followed suit, in accordance with their treaty with Solaris.^[3]

Two days after the initial war broke out, further treaties were activated. First came the activation of the KoS and the Solaris MDPs with Ostreich, whom declared war at 7:03 pm game time.^[4] This was followed shortly by \m/, coming to the aid of their allies KRJ by declaring war at 7:08 pm.^[5] After an affirmative vote to honor their pact with KRJ, the Socialist Workers Front likewise entered at 7:11 pm.^[6], along with LUEnited Empires at 7:14 pm.^[7] Nordreich was the second guild of the day to support the KoS-Solaris coalition, joining at 7:53 pm.^[8] At 10:43 pm, The Knights of The Tropic activated their MDP with the Kingdom of Svalbard, declaring war on KRJ and their allies.^[9] Over a week into the war, The Roman Imperium decided to back the Solaris-KoS coalition, although it held no treaties that would force the guild into the war.^[10] On Jul 29 2008, holding no treaties, the World Destruction Society threw it's name into the fight on the side of Funky Town, claiming only that they were "cool cats" ^[11]

On August 3, late in the war, LUE merged into the KRJ.

On August 8, the war officially came to a close with the signing of the Beta Peace Accords.^[12]

[edit] Justification for the war

After AppealDenied was placed onto the Knights of Raptor Jesus's hit-list for posting full logs of KRJ's private IRC channel, the Empire of the Sun took him in and was informed shortly after the decision was made of AD's status with KRJ. The leadership of Solaris made no effort to negotiate his release from the list as the Emperor was currently occupied with other more pressing RL issues.

Shortly after the release of the war system, a member of KRJ's protectorate, Legendary Society, was instructed to attack AppealDenied as ordered by Kadin. In response, A member of SoL declared war on the protectorate and KRJ ordered an attack on that member of SoL. Shortly thereafter, war was declared by the Empire of the Sun as well as the Kingdom of Svalbard. Less than a week into the war, AppealDenied was then given full membership into the Knights of Raptor Jesus.
